Women’s health blood tests
Private blood tests in North Wales, with expert medical support.
At Jaya Life, we offer private blood tests designed around women and their health. We help identify which blood tests are actually useful for you, interpret your results in the context of your symptoms and medical history, and explain what, if anything, needs to happen next.
Blood tests can be taken at our clinics in Caernarfon and Abergele, North Wales. For added convenience, we can also arrange to take bloods at your home.
No app to obsess over. No numbers without context. Just proper medical care, built around you.
When might a blood test be useful?
Tired all the time? Struggling with brain fog? Not sleeping? Feeling different in yourself? It’s very easy to put every new symptom down to perimenopause or menopause. But symptoms can have other causes too.
Jaya Life can arrange comprehensive blood testing across 50+ biomarkers. Depending on your symptoms, medical history and current treatment, Dr Lucy may recommend tests looking at areas such as:
Full blood count and iron stores, including ferritin
Vitamin B12 and folate
Thyroid function
Thyroid antibodies, where clinically appropriate
Vitamin D, where clinically indicated
Cholesterol and cardiovascular risk markers
Blood glucose and HbA1c
Liver and kidney function
Testosterone, where clinically appropriate
Other hormone tests when there is a clear clinical reason for testing
You don’t automatically need all of these. The point is to investigate your health, rather than simply order the longest possible list.
Why specialist blood tests matter
Blood tests aren’t usually needed to diagnose perimenopause or menopause in women over 45. But they can be valuable for ruling out other causes of symptoms, investigating wider health concerns or monitoring treatments such as testosterone.
The difference is knowing what to test and what the results mean for you. At Jaya Life, Dr Lucy Mather can select clinically appropriate tests and interpret the results alongside your symptoms, medical history and treatment.
If something needs further investigation or a conversation with your NHS GP, she can advise you on what happens next.
Already had blood tests through your GP? That’s absolutely fine. We’re happy to use appropriate recent NHS results. Private testing simply gives you another option when you need additional tests, are receiving private treatment, or want the convenience of arranging everything through Jaya Life.
How Jaya Life blood testing works
-
Your tests can be selected according to your symptoms, medical history, treatment and what you actually want to understand about your health.
-
Blood tests are available through our clinics in Caernarfon and Abergele, North Wales.
Can’t easily get to a clinic? For an additional £60, we can arrange for an experienced phlebotomist to visit you at home.
-
Your results are kept with your clinical information, making it easier to see them as part of the bigger picture of your health and treatment.
-
Where your testing forms part of your Jaya Life clinical care, Dr Lucy can explain your results and what they mean for you, including whether anything needs monitoring, treating or investigating further.

Blood test FAQs
-
You don’t need to work that out yourself. Dr Lucy can recommend which tests, if any, are appropriate based on your symptoms, medical history and any treatment you are taking. If you’re unsure where to start, book a free 15-minute call to discuss whether blood testing could be helpful.
-
Usually not. In otherwise healthy women aged 45 and over with typical symptoms, perimenopause and menopause can normally be identified from your symptoms and menstrual history without hormone blood tests. Blood tests may be useful in some circumstances, including if you are younger, your symptoms could have another cause, or certain treatments need monitoring.
-
You can have your blood taken at Jaya Life’s clinics in Caernarfon or Abergele. If getting to a clinic isn’t convenient, we can also arrange for an experienced phlebotomist to visit you at home for an additional £60. The cost of the blood tests themselves will depend on which tests you need and will be confirmed before you go ahead.
-
Yes. If you already have appropriate recent blood test results from your NHS GP or another healthcare provider, we’re happy to use them where clinically appropriate. There’s no benefit in repeating tests unnecessarily.
-
Your results are returned securely to Jaya Life and can be reviewed in the context of your symptoms, medical history and treatment. Where your testing forms part of your clinical care, Dr Lucy can explain what the results mean for you and advise whether any further investigation, treatment or follow-up is needed.
-
Yes. You can arrange private blood testing through Jaya Life even if you are not currently a patient. If you’re not sure which tests you need, we recommend speaking to us first so that we can help you choose the most appropriate tests rather than paying for tests that may not be useful.
