Expert menopause care, now closer to you.

Jaya Life expands specialist menopause care across North Wales with a new clinic at Spire Abergele and CQC-registered online consultations.

Access to specialist menopause care can be difficult across North Wales. Its large and predominantly rural landscape means women can face lengthy journeys to attend appointments.

Until now, women living in Abergele and surrounding communities on the North Wales coast who needed an in-person appointment with a BMS-recognised specialist, could face a return journey of over 50 miles. This could make attending appointments difficult, particularly for women managing work, family responsibilities or symptoms that were already affecting their daily lives.

To help address this challenge, Dr Lucy Mather, an experienced GP and British Menopause Society Registered Menopause Specialist, has opened a clinic at Spire Abergele. Jaya Life is also now registered with the Care Quality Commission to provide online consultations to women living in England and Wales, making specialist menopause care more accessible to communities across the region.

Jaya Life founder, Dr Lucy Mather, said: “Women in North Wales should not have to travel long distances, or struggle without answers, to receive unhurried, specialist menopause care. That belief is behind the expansion of Jaya Life’s services across the region.

“Many women come to me after spending months or even years feeling unlike themselves. By offering in-person consultations at Spire Abergele, alongside our clinic near Caernarfon and our online service, we can give women more choice over how and where they receive their care.”

Many women begin experiencing symptoms of perimenopause during their 40s, although every woman’s experience is different. Common symptoms include changes to periods, hot flushes, night sweats, disrupted sleep, fatigue, anxiety or low mood, difficulty concentrating, headaches, joint discomfort, reduced sex drive, vaginal dryness and urinary symptoms.

An initial Jaya Life consultation lasts up to 60 minutes, enabling Dr Lucy to explore the patient’s symptoms, medical history, lifestyle, current treatment and individual priorities, before developing a personalised treatment plan. Depending on the patient’s circumstances, this may include hormone replacement therapy and lifestyle measures to address symptoms, and ensure support for longer-term bone, cardiovascular and general health.

Following the appointment, patients receive a written summary, a prescription if appropriate, and recommendations that can be shared with their usual GP or other healthcare professionals.

Dr Lucy has more than 25 years’ experience as a doctor and has worked extensively in general practice and women’s health. Alongside her clinical practice, she is a GP Appraiser and Clinical Tutor at the University of Manchester Medical School. She also has personal experience of early menopause, strengthening her commitment to helping women feel listened to, properly informed and confident about their choices.

Women who are unsure whether they need a full consultation can arrange a free 15-minute introductory call with Dr Lucy. Jaya Life also offers a free two-minute menopause symptom checker to help women reflect on the changes they have been experiencing.
